Designer Manale from Ethiopia to Italy

A hybrid of vision and execution, a creative cross-pollination of craft and culture, a true link between Ethiopia-Africa and the Western world.

Ethiopian inspiration… Italian craftsmanship.

Ethiopian-born designer Manale Dagnew has spent most of her career in fashion in New York and Paris designing and sourcing couture-quality wedding gowns and evening wear with great success. But, after many years living in the West, Manale returned to East Africa, traveling throughout Ethiopia and rediscovering the beauty of her cultural heritage. During that journey, she was inspired to bring her two worlds together. She envisioned combining the timeless beauty of native art and decoration with sophisticated textiles to create an affordable African luxury brand.

Manale adapted the design motifs and colors from Ethiopia's North and South to create an exclusive collection of scarves, wraps . These unique creations have been transposed onto luxurious fabrics that are woven and printed in Italy & India The collection is inspired by the practice of the North's traditional weaving and the South's intricate body painting.

Fashion for Philanthropy

A positive impact on the lives of children in rural Ethiopia matters to me.

Our sole mission is to rebuild schools and to raise the level of children education in rural regions so that it benefits Ethiopia's agricultural communities.

70% of the profit will go towards the rehabilitation of Elementary School in Northern Ethiopia thus, providing a space conducive to education in which children can thrive During our launch phase, we will work with established schools and learning centers to improve the lives of local children and their families. Once we have a more established revenue stream, it is our hope that we can establish new schools for primary education and also training academies for graduates to learn job skills in the Belessa, Gayent and Addis Zemen regions.
